Vintage high quality American character dolls

Created in 1919, The American character Doll and Toy Company manufactured its first batch of composition dolls. The company was also known under the name "aceedeecee" or TDCA or American Corp. of doll Miniature which introduced the famous Campbell kids, tiny tears and Puggy. After several years of operations, they had also ventured to vinyl and hard plastic dolls. However in 1968, the company closed its business and sold some of their moulds and Doll grow perfect hair.

Here are some objects of collection of popular doll that launched the American character and they are clustered around its materials.

A. composition dolls of

(Joy of 1) baby, Pal of the baby and the baby Playmate (1921) - it has a body tissue stuffed but with a head of composition and weapons.

(2) Puggy (1928) - Puggy is a large 13-inch boy doll and is made in the composition of all. It has a brown cap on its mould painted brown hair and is green knitted sleeves long high-clothing and khaki shorts.

(3) Campbell Kid (1928) - this 12-inch doll designed by Grace Drayton is girl of Puggy pal and it is also made of all the bodies of the composition and the head. She has a short hair of painted cast is covered by a short hood and its design was patterned after the Drayton paper doll named Dolly Dingle.

B. hard plastic

(1) Tiny tears (from 1950 to 1968) - this doll series is available in different sizes (11.5, 12.5, 16, 17, 20 and 21 inches). They had a wet drink-features, body of rubber, hard plastic head with either molded hair painted, Karakul wig, or rooted hair in a skull cap.

(2) Sweet Sue (1951 to 1961) - the sizes of these dolls pre-teen version for this range of the series from 15 to 31 inches. Most of the dolls had synthetic hair although there were lots more soon with mohair wigs. Some models are also fully articulated, have bendable knees, flex elbows and ankles, turn heads and are also the marchers.

(3) Betsy McCall (1957-1959) - this plastic or vinyl doll takes all measures of 8 of 36 inches in height. He has the eyes of sleep, the closed mouth, head of socket and rooted hair. Betsy also has a brother named Sandy McCall.

C. vinyl dolls

(1) Grandeur nature Sweet Sue (1954-1956) - it rises to 31 inches in height and had a vinyl head and the arms of the torso and legs are made of hard plastic. His line came with features such as peek-a-boo eyes and Sweet Sue all toddlers vinyl doll version.

(2) Sweet Sue sophisticated (1957) - this is a Sweet Sue teenager version that takes 14, 20, or 25 inches. The doll had mature characteristics and its feet are decorated with Shoe heels.

(3) Fantasies and small fantasies (1960-1961) - this is novelty dolls which are made of vinyl and the line came with 17 styles that are marketed for children adolescents. Some characters that are part of the series are Trixie the Pixie, Freddy's brother and Annie astronaut.

If you, as begin to assemble the dolls, or introduce a close to the tradition of the doll collection, it might be a good idea to start with dolls that interest and which are of relatively low cost. Our generation dolls are great for young girls while dolls High Monster could better aimed at pre-teen and teenage girls.
